The Richtersveld Community Conservancy is the last refuge for the Nama people and their ways of life, and of rare botanical diversity found nowhere else. This tour package allows visitors to traverse this ancient landscape and experience the lifestyle of the Nama people.
Day 1: Meet and greet
On arrival at 14:00 you will be greeted by your tour guide and then check into the Port Indigo beachfront Guesthouse. The day is yours to settle in and relax.
Day 2: Experiencing beauty in every direction
Breakfast is served from 08:00 at the Port Indigo beachfront Guesthouse. At10:00 you will leave on a tour of Sendelingsdrift via Alexander Bay where you will visit the Orange River and witness it flow into the cold waters of the Benguela current. From 12:00 to 15:30 you will go from Alexander Bay to Cornellskop, stopping along the way at Wondergat. This will give you the chance to learn about the Wondergat, Cornellskop and Quiver trees and the area’s endemic plants like Lithops, Conophytems, and Bushman Candle. During this time you will also see Petroglyphs that date back more than 10,000 years.
At 16:00 you will arrive at the Richtersveld National Park at Sendelingsdrift, where you’ll enjoy a braai for dinner at the chalets.
Day 3: Sights, sounds and Sendelingsdrift
The day gets underway early at 08:00 with breakfast at the Sendelingsdrif chalets. At 09:00 you will checkout of the guesthouse and immediately leave for Kuboes where you will meet with the local Nama people. They will perform cultural dances, tell you their stories, show you their community and share a meal with you. At 13:00 you will head to Port Nolloth bringing your time in this ancient landscape to an end.
