Sthembiso (A.K.A Sthe) is an entrepreneur background is varied having taken on a variety of occupations before Street Scene, but has always had a strong fascination about history and is intrinsically a people person. His love for people lead him and his business partner Jonas Barausse to establish Street Scene tours in early 2010 with a single and rather unique goal: To expose Durban residents to Durban.

In the beginning they weren’t pre-occupied with foreign visitors, but wanted to remind citizens of Durban why their city and its surrounding communities were so great. They quickly discovered that there was a need within Durban for a service like theirs and their initial two tours (city and township) did exceptionally well. “We often had guests coming off our tours and thanking us for igniting that fire in their hearts for their home town again, for showing them sides of their city they had never known and for recounting a history about their home town so rich that they came away proud about where they were from.”

After a couple of months, word got out and they realised that if you can blow the socks of locals who’ve lived in the city their whole lives, you certainly have something to offer both international and domestic visitors. Sthe is an incredibly proud Durbanite and getting to pass that pride on day after day feeds his fire.
