This experience is tailored to travellers who would like a little luxury while taking in the natural beauty of the Kalahari.

DAY 1: Dive right in

At 09:00 you will depart on arrival from Upington and head for the Kalahari Red Dune Route. You will arrive at your first destination, the Kalahari Guest House at 10:00, where you will have breakfast, tea, and coffee, as you take in the views from the dam. After your leisurely breakfast, you will leave for Rooipan Guest Farm. You will immediately break for lunch on arrival at 13:00. This will be followed at 15:00 by a game drive. This includes Sundowners on the dunes. After a long day out you will enjoy a delicious dinner back at Rooipan Guest Farm at 19:00. You will spend the night at the Guest Farm, which is considered an oasis of luxury in a barren landscape.

DAY 2: A cultural journey

After a peaceful night’s sleep breakfast is served at 08:00. At 09:00 you will depart for the!Komani San Living Museum where you will gain insight into the lives of the San people. This is an immersive 3-hour excursion where you will meet the San who will demonstrate some of their authentic ways of life. This will be followed by lunch at 13:00 at Aunt Koera se Kombuis. After some authentic home cooking, you will depart for Kgalagadi Lodge, described as a place where rugged terrain and luxury come together. At 16:00 you will check-in and have some time to unwind and freshen up. At 19:00 dinner will be served at the lodge, before retiring to your chalet for the evening.

DAY 3: No rest for the adventurous

Breakfast is served at 07:00 before you set off on the 5hour game drive to the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. At 13:00 you will have a picnic Lunch at Kamqua Picnic Site. After the leisurely lunch, you will meet and greet!Xaus Lodge staff at Kamqua Picnic Site at 14:30. Shortly afterward you will leave for!Xaus Lodge – a luxury lodge, which boasts amongst other must-have facilities, a cozy lounge with a fireplace, a large observation deck to appreciate the star-filled night sky, a swimming pool and a warm fire in the boma. From 17:00 onwards you have some free time, which you can use to go on a wilderness walk or just take it easy. Dinner is served at 19:00 at the lodge.

DAY 4: Cracking start at crack of dawn

Rise and shine – you have a 05:00 morning game drive or walk. This is followed by breakfast at 07:00. At 09:00 once you’ve had breakfast and recovered from getting up so early, you will visit the traditional Bushman/ San Village where you will learn more about their ancient ways, their art, as well as spiritual and medical practices. Lunch will follow at 12:00. You have 2hour downtime afterward to catch your breath. At 17:00 you will head out on a sunset drive. On your return dinner will be served at 19:00 at !Xaus Lodge. Dinner is followed by a night time game drive at 21:00 until 23:30.

DAY 5: Game for wildlife

After an early morning and late night the day before, you can sleep in a little today. Breakfast is at 08:00. At 09:00 you will leave for Kamqua Picnic Site. On arrival, you will go game viewing at Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park and enjoy a picnic lunch. After a rewarding day of game viewing, you will depart for Rooiduin Guest Farm at 16:00. This is a short 30minute drive. At 16:30 you will check-in at the guest farm. You will have 2hours to relax and take it easy. Dinner will be at 19:00 at Rooiduin Guest Farm.

DAY 6: Dunes and trails

It’s another-another easy-going morning with the option to sleep in a little. Breakfast is at 08:00. After breakfast, you’ll hit the dunes for some sandboarding. After 3 hours on the dunes, you’ll be starving. Lunch will be served at 12:00 at Rooiduine Guest Farm. At 14:00 you’ll go off the beaten track and go 4x4 driving. What follows is a 30minute drive to Kalahari Trails Nature Reserve and Meerkat Sanctuary at 17:00. You’ll be checking in by 17:30 and have the next hour and a half to relax and get ready for dinner. Dinner is served at Kalahari Trails Nature Reserve and Meerkat Sanctuary at 19:00.

DAY 7: Homeward bound

Breakfast is served at 08:00. At 09:00 you will interact with the sanctuary's meerkats under the watchful eye of the sanctuary staff. And to end off you will head back to Upington at 10:00.
