DAY 1: Dive right in

At 09:00 you will depart on arrival from Upington and head for the Kalahari Red Dune Route. You will arrive at your first destination, the Kalahari Guest House at 10:00, where you will have breakfast, tea, and coffee, as you take in the views from the dam. After your leisurely breakfast, you will leave for Erin Game Farm. You will immediately break for lunch on arrival at 13:00. This will be followed by check-in at Erin Game Farm at 14:00. From here you will head out on a bush walk with a local guide and meet the Kalahari Buhmen or San people. This day excursion will also include a visit to the area’s famed Living Museum. After spending the better part of the day out and about, you’ll be both famished and exhausted. Dinner will be served at 19:00 at Aunt Koera se Kombuis before hitting the sack for the night.

DAY 2: No rest for the Adventurous

Things get off to a cracking start with an early morning game drive at 07:00 on the Erin Game Farm. After the short, punchy drive, breakfast is served at Aunt Koera se Kombuis at 08:30. At 09:30 you’ll depart for the Rooiduin Guest Farm. This is the setting for an exciting 2 hours of dune boarding. You will have worked up quite an appetite when lunch is served at 12:30 at the guest farm. At 14:30, once you’ve enjoyed lunch and had some time to relax, you will check-in at Kalahari Trails Nature Reserve & Meerkat Sanctuary where the staff will guide your interaction with the Meerkats. At 17:00 you set off on another short but rewarding game drive, this time a Sunset game drive where you’ll take in the unspoilt natural scenery as the golden skies give way to the starry African night. Dinner will be a braai at 19:00 at Kalahari Trails Nature Reserve & Meerkat Sanctuary. You will spend the night here.

DAY 3: Feast for the senses

Breakfast is served at 07:00 before you set off for the Kalahari Info and Tented Camp. At 10:00 you will have a tea & coffee break after your time on the road. This will be followed at 10:30 by an exploration of Rietfontein on Donkey Cart. At 13:00 you will have a delicious traditional lunch in Rietfontein before making your way back to base camp. Shortly after you arrive back at the camp you tea and coffee will be served. You’ll also have a bit of time to put your feet up. At 17:00 you will head out for a sunset game drive to unlock more of the bush’s beauty. You will return to enjoy Dinner at Kalahari Info & Tented Camp at 19:00 before turning in for the night.

DAY 4: Early bird catches the worm

You’ll start things off on a different note. Your morning will start with the sweet sound of bird tweets on an early morning bird watching walk. This will be followed by breakfast at 09:00. At 10:30 you will have the opportunity to visit some local arts and crafts artists, and view their work. Shortly after, you will depart for Askham. You will have something out of the ordinary when you arrive at the Diamond T coffee shop. You will indulge in a springbok pie for lunch. After a laid-back 2 hour lunch you will head to Kalahari Guest House & Farm Stall and on arrival tea and coffee will be served. This will be followed by a walk around the farm as well as bird watching. Dinner follows at 19:00.

DAY 5: Homeward bound

It’s another early start with a morning bird watching walk at 07:00. Breakfast, your last savoury bit of a magical four days in the wilderness, will follow at 09:00. After breakfast, you will depart for Upington to end things off.
