DAY 1: Dive right in

At 09:00 you will depart for Vischgat Game Lodge. This will be a 2-hour drive and by 11:00 you should arrive at your destination. You will have half an hour to check in. At 11:30 you will take a walk on the premises, nothing to strenuous after your drive – there’ll be plenty of time for adventure. At 13:00 you’ll have a 2-hour lunch break followed by a 4 x 4 drive on pre-defined tracks, with various grades to choose from. Dinner will be served at 19:00 back at Vischgat to sum up a busy first day.

DAY 2: Buckle up cupcake

The day gets off to a cracking start at the crack of dawn. Breakfast is at 06:00 after which you will depart for Loch Broom Paradys Lodge at 07:00. This will be a short 30-minute drive. At 08:00, you’ll hit the trail for some 4 x 4 driving on pre-defined tracks – and yet again; there are various grades to choose from. At 12:00 you’ll break for a leisurely 2-hour lunch followed by some well-earned poolside relaxation from 14:00. At 15:30 you have a choice between a guided walk and a game drive. Some downtime and pre-dinner drinks will follow the guided walk or game drive, at 18:00 back at the lodge. Dinner is served at the lodge at 19:00. You’ll spend the evening at the lodge.

DAY 3: No rest for the adventurous

Breakfast is served at 07:00 before you set off for Dreghorn Kalahari Game Ranch at 08:00. Once you arrive at 10:00 you will embark on what is sure to be an adrenaline rush for the day: 3 hours of game tracking in the bush. You will break for lunch at 13:00. Without further pause, you will dive straight into the next adventure. From 15:00 you’ll hit the trail for some 4 x 4 driving on pre-defined tracks. As usual, you’ll have a selection of grades to choose from. At 18:00 you’ll relax as you sip on some pre-dinner drinks. Dinner follows shortly at 19:00 back at Dreghorn Kalahari Game Ranch where you will spend the night.

DAY 4: No looking back now

Breakfast will again be served at 07:00 (in winter this will move up by an hour). At 08:00 you’ll Depart for Kalahari Trails Nature Reserve & Meerkat Sanctuary, which is a stone’s throw away from Dreghorn Kalahari Game Ranch. In under 10 minutes, you will arrive at your destination and immediately get ready to interact with the santuray’s meerkats under the watchful eye of the sanctuary staff. At 10:00 you’ll head out to Rooiduine Guest Farm. This is also a short drive away. At 10:30 you’ll be on the dunes. You’ll have 3 hours to dune board in summer and 2 hours in winter. Lunch will take place at 13:30 and 14:30 there will be more 4 x 4 driving on pre-defined tracks (as always various grades are available). At 17:30 you’ll drive to Klip Kolk Guest House and on your arrival at At 19:00 dinner will be served at the guest house before turning in for the night.

DAY 5: Another cracking start at crack of dawn

Rise and shine – you’ll have a light breakfast at 06:00 before hitting the road again at 07:00. You’ll drive to Zoutpanputs and arrive there at 08:30. You’ll immediately hit the pre-defined 4 x 4 tracks (various grades available). This includes a buffet breakfast on dunes. At 12:30 lunch will be served at Zoutpanputs. This will be followed by some free time, which you can use to unwind and prepare for the next adventure. At 15:30 you will embark on an afternoon drive and a visit to the saltpans. You will take a moment to catch your breath and have some sunset drinks. You’ll have 30 minutes to freshen up before dinner. Dinner will be served at 19:00 at Zoutpanputs where you will rest your weary body for the night.

DAY 6: Up ‘n at ‘em cowboy

It’s another early departure. This time at 06:00. You’ll depart for Loch Maree Guest Farm and arrive there at 06:30. You’ll hit the ground running with some 4x4 driving on pre-defined tracks (various grades available), but not before you have some tea, coffee, and rusks. At 10:30 you’ll break to enjoy brunch at Loch Maree Guest Farm. Following this are a few hours to chill out and savour the free time on your hands. At 15:00 you’ll head out on an afternoon game drive and cap it off with sunset drinks. Back at HQ, you’ll have some time at 18:30 to freshen up for dinner, which follows at 19:00. You’ll spend the night at Loch Maree Guest Farm.

DAY 7: Homeward bound

After a series of early mornings you deserve a lie-in. Breakfast is only at 08:00. At 09:00 you will head back to Upington to round off a six-day 4 x 4 adventure.
